Canada
Canada's main online system for skilled workers. Candidates are ranked by the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) and the highest scorers are invited to apply for PR.
The National Occupational Classification (NOC 2021) decides whether your job qualifies. Occupations in TEER 0, 1, 2 and 3 are eligible for Express Entry.
Provinces nominate candidates who match local labour needs. An Express Entry-linked nomination adds 600 CRS points — practically guaranteeing an invitation.
Quebec selects its own immigrants. Its skilled worker program (now PSTQ) favours French ability, Quebec experience and in-demand occupations.
Multinational employees can transfer to a Canadian branch without an LMIA, gain Canadian experience and later qualify for PR through the Canadian Experience Class.
For qualified tradespeople such as electricians, welders, plumbers and chefs, with lower language requirements than FSW.
The classic route for skilled professionals abroad. Score at least 67/100 on the FSW grid, then compete in Express Entry by CRS.
Canadian citizens and PRs can sponsor spouses, partners, dependent children and — through limited intakes — parents and grandparents.
Entrepreneurs with an innovative business supported by a designated Canadian organisation can apply for PR through the Start-up Visa. Intake caps apply.
A permanent employer-driven route for New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI and Newfoundland & Labrador with a job offer from a designated employer.
Australia
A points-tested PR visa with no sponsor needed. Live and work anywhere in Australia.
A permanent visa for skilled workers nominated by a state or territory, which adds 5 points.
The permanent visa for holders of regional 491 or 494 visas who have lived, worked and met income requirements in regional Australia for 3 years.
A 5-year provisional visa for regional Australia with state or family nomination, adding 15 points — leads to PR via subclass 191.
A 5-year employer-sponsored visa for regional Australia with a path to PR through subclass 191.

Settlement (ILR) is usually available after 5 years on qualifying routes like the Skilled Worker visa. The UK has proposed longer qualifying periods for many routes.

EU Blue Card holders can get German permanent settlement after 27 months — or just 21 months with B1 German.
Permanent residency through employment (EB-1, EB-2 NIW, EB-3), family or investment (EB-5). Indian nationals often face category backlogs.
